AppSense Personalization – Turning the virtual registry and file system on/off

Often when troubleshooting an application you will want to see whether Personalization (or User Experience Virtualization) is the source of the issue.

When using AppSense Environment Manager (part of the DesktopNow suite) the service governing this process is also the same service applying AppSense EM (Environment Manager) Policy.

This creates a bit of a conundrum as often you will want to have all the user configuration applied (such as home drive mappings) to their session but not their data captured in the Personalization database (AppSense saves application and session settings in a database rather than in files on a share like RES or UEV).

While admittedly you could simply remove the user from the Personalization group where the settings are applied it is far easier to troubleshoot an issue on the end point itself.
